Toronto Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting With defending champion Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their maiden World Series after 1993 by beating the Mariners in the final seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh, guiding the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm just so happy for our team, our city, our country," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an incredible feeling."
Springer has now connected for twenty-three playoff homers, placing him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another player in the world that I want up in that situation besides Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the one club yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's going to sting" after his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their work in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he continued.
Toronto's team secured the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
