This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as pardoning festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own ceremonial pardon event this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a long and happy life free from concern.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The craze became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the festive period,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the character of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Annually, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and cafecito as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
