The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category May Address This Issue

As any major awards ceremony draws close, you'll find an outcry to include additional classifications to acknowledge underappreciated efforts and satisfy the hearts of enthusiasts with niche passions.

Another commentator has already made for a horror game category. It would be amazing. The same goes for board games, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. Yet I need to apologize in advance if I try to elbow in front just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification supporting my request remains most pressing and significant. The demand is this: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Classifying creative works is not a science; it remains highly personal, and inevitably start arguments resulting in unclear classifications. There’s a reason movie academies avoid this approach. But it is an essential concession within the realm of gaming, showing incredible range they barely qualify a single creative category.

For the full spectrum of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, while allowing diverse titles to have a chance for representation, specific award classifications remain vital.

Current Gaming Award Categories

The major gaming awards offer these genre categories for Action, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Collectively, these classifications successfully include many game types, and you can find room for numerous titles.

Different situation exists for logic-based experiences. No appropriate category exists to put them. Think about these recent excellent titles, each quite distinct: building puzzles of one title, intense tile-matching in a different title, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. Where could they possibly go within current classifications? Simply put, no category fits.

Recognition Challenges

Many instances occur of brilliant puzzle games published annually without proper recognition in entertainment awards, unless they happen to qualify award groups including Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the intensely contested independent game categories.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated for anything that year
  • Another imaginative release was excluded in 2019
  • Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment that year
  • Limited numbers of logic titles scraped into small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

Frequently they represent compact experiences, but the art in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as most popular titles globally maintaining this status for an extended period.

The iconic tile-matching title competes with well-known building titles claiming status as most purchased experience; it’s also in the running for best game of all time. Puzzle games are foundational for gaming as medium, and they are in conversation with diverse game types.

Proposal and Rationale

Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. You could fill a field of five with fascinating, diverse, deserving games each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, given the need to exclude so many good games out.

And to reiterate, these include experiences without proper classification at major gaming awards. Puzzle game makers function at the demanding boundary interactive creation, developing some of most fundamental forms of the video game form. Comparable to movie stunt professionals, they deserve recognition. Don't make them wait 35 years.
