Putin Vows Steady Energy Supplies to the Indian Nation in Defiance of Washington Demands

Amid a clear statement to the United States, Leader Vladimir Putin has told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Russia stands ready to maintain “unbroken” supplies of energy resources to India. These remarks came as the two leaders met in Delhi and affirmed their bilateral ties were “resilient to outside influence.”

A Statement Aimed at the United States

The statement, issued after the annual summit, seemed to be a pointed rebuke at western countries, which have repeatedly attempted to compel New Delhi into reducing its close relations with Moscow. “Moscow remains a reliable supplier of oil and gas and all required for the development of India’s economy,” he remarked. “We are ready to persist in ensuring the consistent delivery of resources for the booming Indian economy.”

The Indian leader, without referencing crude specifically, echoed the theme by noting that “energy security has been a key and crucial cornerstone of the bilateral cooperation.”

Questioning Washington's Stance

Prior to the summit, via a media interview, Putin had criticized US interference on India's energy purchases. Putin stated, “If the US has the right to buy our uranium, how can you deny India enjoy the identical right?”

Putin's arrival marked his initial journey to India after the beginning of the war in Ukraine, and the two nations made a visible show to display that the friendship between the two leaders was undisturbed.

A Personal Greeting

Taking an notable move, the Indian PM welcomed directly Putin right off the plane. Both leaders embraced warmly like old friends before having a private dinner together.

The Indian prime minister referred to India's relationship with Russia as “a guiding star” and noted it was “founded on reciprocal esteem and strong faith.”

Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

The bilateral summit resulted in multiple key agreements in the fields of military and economic cooperation. A major outcome was the completion of an economic cooperation programme aimed at 2030, which targets to double commerce to one hundred billion dollars each year by the target year.

Additionally agreed to recalibrate their strategic cooperation. Even as Russia is still India's biggest source of weapons, its share has diminished over the past decade as India has sought broaden its sources.

The official release highlighted an agreement on the co-development of cutting-edge defence platforms, although specific details of purchases such as the Sukhoi Su-57 were left out.

Ultimately, Russia and India restated that amid the “ongoing challenging, difficult, and unpredictable international environment, their relationship stay durable to external pressure.”
