Netflix Selects Spot-On Actor for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a cherished, popular member has recently been selected.

Netflix announced recently that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will embody Bon Clay. Bon Clay has the ability to morph into an perfect replica of any individual they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The actor, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will depict a rendition of that figure reinterpreted as non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and anime.

Escola joins a number of new cast members who will portray the organization to life, including head Sir Crocodile, played by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and a familiar face, who is also part of the cast as the monarch of the fictional land.

Although this character is a important part of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this signals a notable change in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could signal additional alterations to the story’s structure.

Their mix of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the part. In addition to their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is scheduled to come back for its season two on March 10, 2026.
