Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
